If you ask any beauty lover to name their favourite setting powders, you can bet your bottom dollar that the majority will mention Charlotte Tilbury’s Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder. While it’s a cult classic product, that doesn’t mean it will suit everybody’s needs and preferences. So with that said, I’d like to share my own experience with this powder now it’s been a part of my collection for a solid two years in the hope it helps you in the process of deciding whether or not to invest in it…
TEXTURE, COLOUR & PERFORMANCE
Unlike many setting powders, the Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder does have coverage to it, and while I can get away with wearing it, even the fairest shade is still a smidgen too dark for me. However, this coverage has been a godsend on days when I needed to cover up areas of hyperpigmentation, but it’s important to note that I don’t believe this powder will work for people with fair skin with a pink undertone due to its warmth.
In terms of texture, it’s very smooth and blurring. However, a tiny bit goes a long way. The more you use, the more powdery your skin will look – luckily, you only need the smallest amount to experience brilliant payoff. As I have combination skin, I feel as though I can confidently say that it’s suitable for dry, normal and oily skin types.
Because of how it performs, it seems to be an amazing powder for people who struggle, like me, with textured skin and irritation/breakouts. However, it does contain parabens, which can cause irritation. Personally, it doesn’t cause irritation on my skin, but hopefully one day this product can be made paraben-free so everybody can experience it.
SIZE & PACKAGING
As it’s a pressed powder, when I first bought it I was concerned that I’d end up getting through it exceptionally quickly, which isn’t a great feeling when it has a price tag of £35. However, given that you need so little to achieve fantastic results, it took nearly a year of on-and-off use to create a noticeable dent with no evidence of hitting pan. Regardless, for £35 I think it could be argued that more product should be given.
The packaging is a really nice size – it’s fairly dinky, but it makes it super convenient as you easily fit it in your handbag for touch ups during the day (not that you need to). It has a good weight and this, alongside the gold packaging, makes the whole product feel luxurious, sturdy and well-made.
Overall, this is an excellent powder which performs beautifully and I hope that one day it will be reformulated without parabens so everybody can use it. However, in the meantime, if you are 100% paraben-free, you may want to check out the Hourglass Veil Translucent Powder (it’s loose, but trust me when I say it’s worth the splurge).
