Dior Beauty is one of the most talked about and adored makeup brands of current times. With exceptional formulas and beautiful packaging, the brand nails it when it comes to performance and quality across their entire cosmetic collection. One of Dior’s most coveted range of products in their portfolio are their foundations, with a variety of different formulas to give everybody an option depending on their skin type and preference when it comes to coverage and finish. While the Dior Forever and Dior Backstage complexion products are well known and loved, I regularly get asked about the Dior Prestige Foundation – what’s it like? Does it wear well? Is it drying? Does it give a radiant finish? And, most importantly, is it actually worth the whopping £120 price tag?

The formula is absolutely stunning. My mum loves it, my grandmother loves it, and I love it too. And we all have different skin types and needs when it comes to what we require out of complexion products. Whereas my mum and grandmother both have dry skin, I have a very oily t-zone. My grandmother has more mature skin, but is smooth in texture, whereas my mum and I both have keratosis which creates fine texture on our cheeks. My mum has completely clear skin, whereas my grandmother has a couple of sunspots and I have slightly acne-prone skin. The Dior Prestige Foundation has exceptional coverage, while not being drying or cakey whatsoever. At the same time, it offers amazing oil control for those of us who have a tendency to get a bit shiny throughout the day. The formula gives a beautiful natural radiance to the skin, and looks healthy rather than a mask of makeup.
And the formula is packed full of skin-loving ingredients and technology too. According to the Dior website, the Prestige Foundation is enriched with micro-nutrients which acts like skincare to increase the luminosity and smoothness of our skin without makeup. They also suggest the formula helps to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, improve the firmness of the skin and boost hydration too. I haven’t worn the formula back-to-back enough to contest whether these benefits actually work (and I’m too young to require some of the benefits too), however, I can say that my skin always looks calm and feels soft after wearing this foundation for a day. My mum, on the other hand, did wear it everyday during the winter, and she too agrees that it left her skin calm and hydrated. The formula also contains rosy micro-pearls, which boosts the skin’s radiance. When it comes to the formula, while it has a fine texture, it’s very full coverage, so during the summer months we both mix the foundation with other lighter formulas and moisturisers.
What’s vital to mention about the Dior Prestige Foundation is that it’s actually designed for Asian skin. There are only seven shades available, and these are all with Asian skin tones and undertones in mind. During the winter months when I’m at my fairest, I wear the lightest shade in the collection, 0N Neutral, which is a little cool for my yellow undertone. Of course, though, if you have a deep skin tone, this formula won’t be suitable for you – in fact, unless your undertone works with this shade range, the formula won’t suit your needs. Which ultimately is completely fine – I actually applaud a cosmetics company for creating a formula that is designed for a demographic’s skin tone and make preferences that isn’t Caucasian. Besides this, Dior offer an array of different foundations, all with extensive shade ranges, so the brand really does have something to offer everybody.
So is the Dior Prestige Foundation worth it? Yes, it is – if it suits your preferences and skin tone. Do you need a £120 foundation to have a beautiful-looking formula? No, you don’t. However, if you have the budget to purchase the Prestige Foundation and it sounds like your cup of tea, it really is worth trying as the formula is just exceptional.
