Whilst Korean beauty has been all the rage over the past few years, Laneige is a brand I’ve only just discovered recently. After seeing the skincare brand pop up across a few of my favourite creator’s channels on YouTube, I decided to purchase the number one product I kept hearing rave reviews about. The Laneige Lip Sleep Mask has become somewhat of a social media phenomenon. One minute, I’ve never heard of it – the next, it seems as though everybody wants to try it for themselves. Coming in a selection of scents and tones, this bestselling lip care product retails for £21. And as someone who struggles with dry lips, I was curious to see just how good it was for myself. So with that said, let’s review the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask…
TEXTURE, APPLICATION & FINISH
The Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask is incredibly nourishing. With a thick, luscious texture, it offers instant smoothness and moisture, however, you don’t need a lot to achieve major hydration. In fact, for the product to look and feel it’s best, you need the tiniest amount. Worn like this, it’s a beautifully moisturising balm that allows your lips to look pillowy and smooth with a stunning sheen. On the other hand, when you apply a lot, it can feel a bit heavy.. but we’ll get into that later.
My favourite way to apply the product is to get a little amount on my fingertip and tap the balm on, and it layers over lip liners and lipsticks beautifully. At night time, I tend to use a little bit more product, but trust me when I say the less you use the better. You do not need a lot of the Lip Sleeping Mask to make it work, and the more you apply the more thick it feels and more product you’re unnecessarily wasting.
WEAR TIME & RE-APPLICATION
I find that the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask wears really quite well throughout the day, and only requires re-application after I’ve eaten a meal and the product has been on my lips for a few hours. In terms of re-application, you don’t have to exfoliate your lips or remove any excess product for the new application to look good.
DOES THE LANEIGE LIP SLEEPING MASK ACTUALLY WORK?
Simply put, from my experience the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask is one of the best lip care products that I’ve come across. Over the past couple of years, I’ve been, and continue to be, a hard lover of the massively underrated Major Glow Softening Lip Masque by Patrick Ta Beauty, and I’ve struggled to find lip balms and treatments that match it. However, in saying that, the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask has reached the bar. Offering lasting hydration and moisture, it leaves my lips feeling soft and smooth long after the product has worn off. Because of this very reason, the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask has become a staple in my skincare collection.
SCENTS, PACKAGING & PRICE
The Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask comes in an array of sheer shades and delicious scents, including Vanilla, Peppermint, Chocolate, Mango and Berry, with my favourite being Vanilla. I personally find the scent to be quite strong in the tub itself, but once it’s on the lips the intensity fades quickly leaving just a subtle hue.
One of my favourite features of the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask is the amount of product you’re given in the tub. With 20g of product for £21, you are getting an incredible luxury product for a very reasonable price given how little of the lip mask you require with each application. With that said, I know for a fact that I will start to collect the other scents that I like and will recommend the product to everybody who’s after a nourishing lip treatment that actually works.
Now that we’ve come to the end of my review of the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask, if you’d like to know which lip products live in my handbag you can do so by reading the article linked here.
