I’ve never been a particularly big blush lover. In fact, I tend not to where blush at all, and if I do, I wear it very lightly. Since I have fair skin, I find that the more makeup I put on my cheeks, the more I look like I’m wearing makeup, and I prefer a more subtle look. Over the years, I’ve tried and tested a range of different blush formulas, and have found some incredible textures and colours that I just love (see here). Occasionally though, a new formula with a new set of tones is launched into the beauty world and immediately catches my eye.
In this review, we’ll be discussing one of those blushes, namely the Rare Beauty Stay Vulnerable Melting Blush. Described as a weightless wash of colour, this Allure Best of Beauty Award winning cream blush was instantly titled as the perfect barely-there product for those who prefer a subtle natural look. So with that said, let’s get into my Rare Beauty Stay Vulnerable Melting Blush review…
PIGMENTATION, TEXTURE AND FINISH
The Stay Vulnerable Melting Blush formula is beautifully lightweight and soft in texture. With a creamy and smooth feel, you can either apply the product with your fingers or with a brush, and both would look equally beautiful. The formula has very subtle pigmentation that you can build up in layers. When applying the blush with your fingers, you’ll achieve a more pigmented look than when using a brush. When using a brush, you’ll achieve an extremely gentle hue of colour that can be built up in layers. Whilst this blush is perfect for natural makeup wearers, if you prefer an ultra-pigmented blush formula, this won’t be for you.
The Stay Vulnerable Melting Blush formula leaves the skin looking hydrated and dewy without looking greasy whatsoever. I’ve never known the blush to crease or look streaky, and it always makes my skin look smooth and radiant.
HOW DOES THE STAY VULNERABLE MELTING BLUSH WEAR THROUGHOUT THE DAY?
With any cream product, staying power in terms of both placement and pigmentation is essential. When it comes to placement, the Stay Vulnerable Melting Blush does not budge, whereas on the other hand when it comes to pigmentation, like with most cream cheek products, it does fade a tiny amount. For me, this isn’t a problem, because I don’t want a heavy look in the first place, and the fading is minimal too. Additionally, the formula looks as equally stunning at end of the day as it does at the beginning. It never creases, it doesn’t smudge, it doesn’t separate. In saying that, I truly believe the Stay Vulnerable Melting Blush is a perfect product for someone who just wants the most subtle wash of colour that looks natural and is easy to control.
SHADES AND PACKAGING
The Stay Vulnerable Melting Blush comes in five shades: Nearly Neutral, a soft neutral beige pink; Nearly Rose, a vibrant pink; Nearly Berry, a deep pink berry; Nearly Mauve, a mid-tone pink mauve; and Nearly Apricot; a soft muted terracotta. My personal favourite colour is Nearly Neutral – it’s so flattering on the skin and blends into bronzer beautifully to create a seamless flush of gentle colour.
In terms of packaging, I think this is what captivated so many people to want to buy the Stay Vulnerable Melting Blush in the first place. Presented almost like a pearl in a clam found in the sea, the blush itself looks like it’s been pressed in the centre to look soft. From a visual marketing point of view, it’s very clever, and it makes you want to collect all the shades.
IS THE STAY VULNERABLE MELTING BLUSH WORTH THE HYPE?
As someone who doesn’t like to wear blush, I think it says a lot that I really want Rare Beauty to create more nude-blush tones in the Stay Vulnerable formula. Whilst the level of subtleness in pigmentation wouldn’t suit a lot of people, for me the gentleness of colour is perfect. I can control placement and pigmentation with ease, and I always love how my skin looks when using this product. With a price of £23, I think you’re getting a beautiful blush formula that will always make your skin look natural, smooth and radiant. With a paraben-free, water-resistant and noncomedogenic formula, what’s not to love!
